You can control Flash in Chrome using special settings. Decide which websites can use it or block them. Click “allow” on a popup when you visit a site to turn Flash on.
Steps to Get Flash Working
Step 1: Open Chrome
Launch Chrome on your device. On Windows, find it in the Start menu. On a Mac, check the Applications folder.
Step 2: Click the Menu Icon
Look at the top right. Tap the three-dot button to open the menu.
Step 3: Head to Settings
From the menu, choose “Settings.” It’s usually near the end of the list.
Step 4: Access More Options
Scroll down the Settings page. Click “Advanced” to unlock extra features.
Step 5: Locate Content Controls
Find the “Privacy and security” section. Hit “Content settings” to move forward.
Step 6: Pick Flash
Scroll until you see “Flash” on the list. Click it to open the Flash settings.
Step 7: Switch Flash On
Slide the toggle to “On.” If it’s blue, Flash is already active—no need to adjust. When it’s on, websites will ask if they can use Flash.
You can also add or block websites here by clicking “Add” and entering their names.
Step 8: Go to a Flash Website
Visit a site that uses Flash, like one with animations or quizzes. A popup will ask about Adobe Flash Player.
Step 9: Turn On Flash Safely
If the site seems okay, click “Click to enable Adobe Flash Player.” A small window will appear to check with you.
Step 10: Approve It
Press “Allow” to let Flash run on that site.
Fixing Problems
If you see a “Flash needed” message, look near the address bar. Click the lock or “i” icon, choose “Site Settings,” set Flash to “Allow,” and reload the page. The content should work now.
Good to Know
Chrome switches Flash off every time you close it. You’ll need to do these steps again next time.
