Want to access an old Hotmail account? Microsoft merged Hotmail’s design with Outlook. Signing into Hotmail now follows the same steps as logging into Outlook.

An “@hotmail.com” email still works, but it opens in Outlook.com instead of the old Hotmail site. The guide explains how to check a Hotmail inbox on a computer, phone, or tablet.

How to Sign in to Hotmail

    Open and Access Hotmail

Download the Microsoft Outlook app or go to the Outlook website. Enter your Hotmail email on the login page, type your password, and select “Sign in.”

Your Hotmail account will open. If you don’t have an account, create one first.

    Using a Phone or Tablet

    Install the Outlook App

Microsoft has moved Hotmail to Outlook.com, so you can access your Hotmail emails using the Outlook app.

    • For Android: Open the Play Store, search for Outlook, and select Microsoft Outlook. Tap Install to download the app.

    • For iOS: Open the App Store, search for Outlook, and select Microsoft Outlook. Tap GET to install the app.

    • Outlook is also available in the Windows Store.

    Open the Outlook App

Tap the Outlook app icon, a blue envelope with a white “O.” You can find it on your home screen, app drawer, or by searching for it.

    • If Outlook opens to your inbox, you are already signed in.

    • If your device has a linked account, “Account Found” will appear. Tap “Add Account” to continue or “Skip” to use another account.

Sign In to Your Hotmail Account

    1. Tap Add Account to go to the Microsoft sign-in page.
    2. Enter your Hotmail email address.
    3. Enter your password. If you don’t remember it, tap Forgot password?
      • You may need to verify using a phone number or security questions if you don’t have a recovery email.
    4. Tap Sign in to access your Hotmail inbox in Outlook.

    Additional Settings

    • Microsoft might ask you to send diagnostic reports. Choose Accept or Decline, then tap Continue to Outlook.

    • Now, you can send and receive emails from your Hotmail account on your phone or tablet.

    • You can also sync your Hotmail account with the iOS Mail app.

    How to Log Out

    1. Tap your profile picture at the top-left corner.
    2. Tap the settings (cog) icon.
    3. Select your email account under Mail Accounts.
    4. Tap Delete AccountDelete From This Device or Delete From All Devices.

    Using a Computer

    Open the Outlook Website

    • Launch a web browser and go to the Outlook website.

    • Since Hotmail is now part of Microsoft Outlook, visiting the Hotmail site redirects you to the Outlook login page.

Check If You’re Already Signed In

    • You are already signed in if your Outlook inbox shows.

    • If another person’s inbox opens, sign out by clicking the profile icon in the top-right corner and selecting “Sign out” from the menu.
    Using a Computer

    Click “Sign In”

    • Find the “Sign in” button at the top-right corner of the page and click it.

    Enter Your Email Address

    • In the “Email, phone, or Skype” field, type your Hotmail email address.

    • Click “Next.”

    • If your Hotmail account is deleted or disabled after the grace period, you must create a new Outlook account.

    Enter Your Password

    • Type your password in the “Password” field.

    • If you don’t remember your password, reset it before continuing.

    Click “Sign In”

    • Select “Sign in” below the password field.

    • If the details are correct, your inbox will open.

    Access Your Hotmail Account

    • Your Hotmail account is now available in Outlook.

    • Adjust settings if needed before using Outlook.
